Why do women love shoes so much? My fiancé totally doesn’t get it. He didn’t get it when I moved in and had to do a separate trip just to fill the car with my many clear boxes of shoes perfectly paired off in OCD style…and years later, he still doesn’t get it when shoe shops leave me ecstatic if I can buy a pair, or depressed when it’s too far from payday to justify. He especially doesn’t get it when I insist I NEED a new pair for every major function to match a dress that I HAVE to wear.
Sex And The City captures it perfectly with Carrie’s obsession of Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo, and I completely dare any women to watch the movie when Big makes her a wardrobe complete with HUGE shoe rack, to not have palpitations of desire. I have to say, the most exciting thing about getting married was the fact I could totally justify buying my beyond gorgeous Christian Louboutins.
So the theory goes, no matter what you look like, weigh, or strive for style wise, shoes fit. You’re size wont change based on how happy you are/ how upset you are, if you’re having a bad hair day, or if you’re totally clueless about style. Shoes are durable and can quite often last longer than a boyfriend, and they can normally make you feel a whole lot better about yourself than one aswell! A shoe is a shoe and its beautiful in every way and will never change! Although you may have to re-heel them a few times…quick rehab for your best friend!
However, if you are infact an obsessive with a normal bank account living in London, I am sure the next bit of news will excite you as much as it did me. 18 months ago in a Miami mall, I was introduced to the shoe genius of Steve Madden by my very over excited Sister-in-Law to be who loves and adored everything he makes. So she was jumping around the room when I told her he will be opening his first stand alone store on Broadwick Street today!
This will be the fist time Steve Madden has had a stand alone presence on the UK High Street, and this store will have a unique London take on this normally very American brand, creating a design concept ‘that marries the statement making style of Steve Madden with the insouciance and innovation of London fashion, delivering a real destination store in the heart of the capital.’ Oooh very exciting!
His celebrity fan base includes Kate Moss, Hayden Panettiere, Heidi Klum, Lady GaGa, and Katy Perry. So really, who wouldn’t want to be wearing the same shoes as the above? These studded black beauties beats Carrie Bradshaw collection in my mind, and will be accompanying me on my summer travels..Head down there today to get your hands on this summers must have gladiator sandals, sexy statement heels, signature wedges, and embellished pumps, before it’s mobbed by fanatics everywhere!
